A long time ago there was a woman, who would regularly carry a heavy wooden tub on her back form Tux to Mayrhofen. It's the legendary "Tuxer Bötin" we're taking about. She would supply the locals with implements vital for life, explains Klaus Erler form the rural museum at the Höllensteinhütte. There you can also see the wooden tub between many other historical tools.

How do I get to the museum? Through hiking, of course. The starting point is in Madseit, at 1400 metres
height. First you will walk along the Forststraße, but then you will find a beautiful little path, that crosses the trail and weaves its way through the forrest, until the the view is clear again and you can see the Junsberg, the Madseitberg and the Grüblspitze.

All in all the tour to the Höllensteinhütte (1740 m) will take about 1 1/2 hours. Strengthened from the stop you will walk on through the woods, up to the Tapeneck (1830m). From far one can already see the Griersee sparkling, and soon you will also be able to spot the Grieralm. The beautiful parlours at the rustic Grieralm and the chairs, carved by the innkeeper, will invite you to stay a while.

From the Grieralm (1787 m) there is well marked trail to the Tulferalm (1700m) through a beautiful fir forrest down to Madseit. This will be about 300 m difference in altitude with a marvellous view and a spectacular mountain scenery.
